Dash kit that allows pocket cover

The Metra 7897 kit is total garbage....Has anyone been able to get the HU to flushmount with it?

do you want the kit that allows you to use the factory pocket? or the one that takes it out? the 99-7899 replaces the pocket and the 99-7897 lets you use the stock pocket. I had the 99, but it was trash that rattled, but the 97 is nicer.

What I don't like about that kit is that you can't flush-mount the HU.

I wonder how that kit would look with those single din in dash screens like the eclipse, panasonic, and clarion... they stick out further then most units. Anyone do it with that kit?

I too am interested to find out if there is a flush mount kit for this. I have a 2003 Acura 1.7 EL, but the dash is the same.

the one pictured will let you flush mount in-dash screens and dvd players, cuz they're longer than regular HU's. but yea, the 7899 will flush mount you unit. I like the 7897 cuz its bolted down like the stock one as opposed to the cage being locked into the kit.

Do you know if the 7860 will fit?
It says it's for a 2002 Civic Si.

Here is a picture of it, it seems to be double DIN.

Megabump.....

I have the 99-7899 installed right now. It rattles like hell, buckles in the middle and looks like total poo. Does anyone have any new opinions on the 7897 as far as fit, look and ease of installation? I dunno if it matters, but I have an Alpine 9811.

if you want a kit that allows you to keep the factory pocket the American International matches up to the factory dashkit color, it is 2 piece, one piece is the top piece where the hu goes and the other is a blank panel, which does away with the pocket, but if you want to keep the factory pocket, then you can do what i did and throw the bottom piece in the garbage and use the top only and keep the factory pocket, its part number HON-K809

Yukonart will become famous soon enough
As far as flush-mounting goes, I heard my installer say something about performing an "iso-mount" with my Pioneer AVH-P7480DVD. No ****, it was flush-mounted! Here's that pic of my dash again, for reference purposes:

Guess it's not TOTALLY easy to see, but it most certainly IS flush-mounted. I'm going to do a search on this topic to what I can learn about it.
