I got my system installed last Saturday.
My subs aren't working. I am getting power to the amp, the light is on.
I checked the wires to the sub and they are connected. WTF is the matteR?

is the remote wire pinched anywhere? mine was getting power and the subs werent working in my old car then i realized the blue remote wire was being pinched everytime the back seat was in its mormal position. i ran the wire through a different spot and it worked fine.
thats odd, cause if the amp powers on, the remote lead should be way fine.
signal, source, power, signal, source, power, there are only three things can be wrong with a working amp.
are the speakeres blown? gotta check those output wires, easiest way is to do it with a test speaker, that you know works. makes noise? your speaker was blown
gotta test yoru signal.have you got another amplifier you can test? even a set of headphones should work, i fyou cna plug them in, to hear noise.
power youve already checked, as yoru lights turn on.
if all three are fine, signal, source, and power, your amps busted.

What kind of amp is it and what color is the light? Most amps have a shared power/protection light. Most of the time its green for power and either red or yellow if there is a problem.

Well if your amp is getting power, and all the connections to the amp are fine, then it is probably a connection inside the box. I don't know your system specs, but you could have blown out your subs. Again, I don't know your system specs, so I don't know if that is the case.
Another thing is that you might have is a bad connection...happened to me :| coil wire come loose from tensil lead due to excessive movement. You can check this w/a DMM. An easy way to tell if your coils is blown is there is usually always a weird smell coming from the sub. Or check the coild leads w/a DMM.
If the subs came w/a warranty than they'll prob be replaced or fixed. If not, I would suggest you go to another audio shop and have them look at what is your prob and determine what caused it. If it was installers fault the shop Should cover it. Of course the last thing a shop is going to do is accept fault. HTH

god, i hate it when people take our work to another shop to diagnose. that was the first thing that 2k1 diver did in that post i wrote abotu what not to do at a shop.
of COURSE one shop will play agasint the other shop. its guaranteed. all you accomplish is pissing off either or both shops, you wont make friends at yoru shop that way.
and if they start to get pissed off every time you drive up......
seriously, please dont play one shop agsaint the other. you just alienate yoruself to the shop workers, and if thats yrou goal, cool, or if you dont care, cool, but if they dont like you they arent as likely to be nice to you. and if htey like you, i guarantee you can get away with a WHOLE lot more than if they dont.
not that they will sabotage yoru car or anything, but if they dont like you, i guarantee you will get the cold professional side of them, they will charge you MSRP on everything, and not give you any leeway on any pricing.
kind of a rant, but please PLEASE dont play shops agasint each other. we really hate it. a whole lot.

There is no reason to put one shop againts another. All I was trying to say was to get a second opinon from someone who knows what they're doing. Now, if your worried about someone doing that then something isn't right.
you said to get a second opinion from another shop. if the first shop didnt know what they were doing, they would be out of buisness.
read my previous post, if you get a second opinion from someone who knows what they are doing, and that second opinion is coming form another shop, then you are pitting one shop agasint the other. period.
and its the most shitty thing you can do.

Not to sure if it's the most shitty thing you could do. WhiteRabbit, you'll be surprised as to how many times I've had encounters w/incompetent installers...and I'm sure I'm not the only one either. Main reason why I started getting into the install side if the industry
"If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself" is what I always say.
"If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself" is what I always say. the reason they are incompetant is because you expected something else than you paid for. its simple miscommunication.
i think 50% of the people in here wouldnt agree with the way the "industry" installs amplifiers, and thought that it was done a different way. later, after having work done and realizing that its not at all what they expected, they naturally would assume that the installers were incompetant.
it all boils down to not getting what you expected, and then blaming it on us, rather than yourself. thats really the bottom line. we are your scapegoat.

How would you know what I expect from what I pay?
When I pay for an install I expect only for the install to be done correctly(good workmanship). I don't think that is asking to much. I don't pay the extra dinero for flashy looks or a comp quality install, hence I don't expect it. I'm all about Function over form, so don't try to label me
But anyways, this is getting way off topic. Gotti just keep us updated and tells us how everythings going...

Dang, that does sucks!! I can relate to that...experiance just isn't the same w/out being able to feel those low fq. Esp. what it makes your brain feel like jello
Look at the bright side though...you didn't have to purchase new ones.
Did they tell you the reason as to why they "blew up"?

hey gotti, next time try doing all yrou tuning with the gain, and not using the bass boost. is yrou amp enough power for the speakers? if so, you should be able to gain up to compensate for the bass boost....
might give the woofers a bit more healthy power...
