6x9 question
is it difficult to install 6x9s in a civic coupe?? cuz i'm thinking of getting rear speakers for my car and i don't plan on paying too much for install so probly get like a friend and deciding to do it together... checked the diy but it only has install info for sedan and my comp is lagging so i couldn't check... but i'm assuming it's fairly easy... is there anything i should keep in mind? and can anyone suggest to me what kind of 6x9s are good? i'm leaning towards the mbquart dtc 169 cuz i have front component mb quarts... so i'm thinking mb quarts all around... does anyone else here have the rear mb quarts? or do you know of anyone else that has them? how do they sound? thanks

installing rear speakers in our civics isn't hard, its just time consuming. you have to take out the rear seat (the bottom part), then the side panels, then the backs of the rear seat, then you can take out the rear deck.
also, be careful with what speakers you buy, there isn't a whole lot of mounting depth, if you notice, in the trunk, right under the speaker there are some bars. those get in the way of some speakers with big magnets.
sorry, i have no experience with mb quarts, so i cant help there.

I will tell you that nothree way 6x9's will fit without bending the torsion bars and infinitys and Alpine Type R's won't....I had to put Boston Pro's ni and they work fine....If it rubs the torsion bars a little it will scratch the magnet at the bottom of the speaker which will not harm it at all, a little rubbage is okay

oh yea i forgot about those bars... do they serve any importance to the car? i mean i'm sure it does seeing as how it came with it... but what were to happen if i were to cut them off or somehow bend them or something so they wouldn't get in the way... cuz yea... umm... i did buy the speakers... =X and i guess i forgot to consider that and take that into mind...

thats a good question, i dont know what purpose those 2 bars serve, i had planned on taking them out so i could put in Pioneer 5 way speakers but then i thought "they dont put things in a car unless it has a purpose" so i ended up getting kicker 6x9's. has anyone removed that bar?
Those bars are your trunk springs. Removal will result in a very heavy trunk lid, but it essential to remove them if you want to install decent speakers. I removed mine, installed Cerwin's from the bottom, and converted to gas shocks to hold the lid up. Works Very Well.

well the speakers have a 3 and something inch depth in top mounting... but i'm not sure if that would clear before the bars... heh... so i could take them out and get gas shocks? how much do gas shocks usually run? are they hard to install? where can i get them?? thanks
