Component speakers have different parts to them. The tweeter is a seperate little speaker and then there is a midrange and a crossover to connect them. Regular speakers are all one piece, you have the woofer and then (on good speakers) there is usually a tweeter and/or midrange in the middle of the speaker.

go for the separates. costs much more but they're good for the long run. i recommend JBL GTO's or Infinity Kappa series.

What about components that will be hooked up to 50 watt RMS amp? Alpine MRV-F450 to be exact. Any suggestions?

A set of JL TR components would do you right, under $200 for a set I believe and they are very very nice sounding components that work well without a higher power amp

Player- I have Boston Pro Series Components and they have great mids and highs. I would also recommend MB Quartz components. You will be much happier buying components now and in the future if you want to add to it.
