problem with subs and battery?
I don't have a big system, just a small amp and two 10 subs. After installing dynamat on the rear deck and trunk, I noticed a dramatic decrease in sound level. After driving with the system off on the freeway for a few minutes, I noticed an improvement. I'm wondering if the battery is drained and not able to fully charge anymore. Any ideas?
Thanks
Thanks

Lud, you are not the first...someone locally (SoCal) blew their alt with 1 kilowatt + system. He just never posts on the ICE board.
Anywayz, What is happening with your system?

Okay.. sounds odd.. did you deaden over your grounding point?. Where did you ground the amp to. What size wiring are you running?. Have you checked under your hood for corrosion?..See if the speaker wires on the amp and going into your sub box are loose?

Thanks for the suggestions. All the wiring is the same as before the dynamat install, and I'm using 4 gauge wire for a small mtx amp. The subs are moving, just not as hard as before. I'm taking it to the dealer for a free battery check to be sure.
Are you running a strike capacitor? I read elsewhere that adding one helps if you don't have one and have used sound dampener, because it lets your alternator do it's job while the amp draws from the cap.

no, lets not speak this blasphemy here. the cap only holds power for a fraction of a second. sure it may help dimming, but will it help alternator stress, no way. and how is a cap related to sound deadener
the cap was in relation to his query about the battery being drained. and i read it elsewhere online so i mentioned it. just trying to give suggestions. its up to the reader to figure out what the solution is.

That's why I don't have a cap. The alternator still has to recharge it. I finally spent time adjusting the equalizer and was able to get more bass. I even got rid of some of the bright highs infinity speakers can have. Thanks for the answers.
