Valentine One or HU
like the title says it's either a Valentine One or a new HU to start a long process of working on my stereo.
The HUs I'm looking at:
Clarion DXZ935
Panasonic CQ-HX2083U
From what I understand the stock speakers are decent (is this true?). This way I could just get the system as the money comes. Also a complete Dynamat Extreme treatment only needs to be applied.
Opinions?

I'd go witht he clarion HU, and also, no need to burn money on dynamat extreme, fatmat works fine. as to the stock speakers, only you can decide whether theyre good or they suck

I've already got 2 door packages and 4 wedge packs of dynamat extreme to put in a coupe (ripped best buy off with an employee discount
).
Also Ludlam, why would you choose the Clarion over the Panasonic?
I'll keep kicking this around but yall might turn me to the dark side of constant money spending... and I'm willing to go.

clarion has a better track record, and is a more widely accepted radio being considered better by the numbers.
great value and great performance (ie wont break unless a monkey installs it) is why most people who know both radio's intimately choose clarion over panasonic

i would choose clarion over panasonic because i've installed both, and i currently own a clarion. I have owned 2 pioneer premier HU's (old old ol tape player w/ cd changer, and P840MP), a JVC (KDSH-99), a few ghetto *** no-name brand cd players, and I like the clarion best out of all of them.

ludlam, you say clarion thus far in my quest. I've been looking around and maybe this might be more helpful in what i'm looking for.
-Satelite Radio (preferably Sirius, but i'll settle for XM)
-MP3 capability (can do without since i'll be getting satellite)
-Something that's display isn't too flashy, yet is nice and fits the car cleanly.
-Security (I like the Blaupunkt security card feature, Panasonics ghost, and the way the Alpines look when tucked away)
-In the beginning I don't know if I'll have enough money to get new speakers and an amp, so something that won't blow the stock speakers, yet will supply enough power down the line.
-When I get this system going I won't be going to ghetto bass bumpin... something that is louder, cleaner, and more pleasant to listen to.
I'm willing to spend up to $450 on the HU then i'll decide on how to work the rest of the system as I learn more about audio stuff. If yall could give me some ideas of good unit out there that might fit these qualifications I would be much appreaciated. btw, I'm now open to any brand as long as they fit these (a majority) of these.

check out www.hookedontronics.com they have really cheap good quality stuff... I got my alpine cda7894 for 309$ shipped and the audio store by my house wanted like $420 so that saved me over 100. I think they have all the brands that you guys have been talking about on there. alpine. clarion. etc... good luck
