best components?/ best subs?
best components?/ best subs?
aside from the JL W7, what are some of the best 12 inch subs out there?
i was thinking of getting a pair of Alpine Type R's. what do you think?
also,
what are some of the best components out there?
i was looking at some MB Quarts on ebay, but i dont know how to tell what is good and what isnt. what brands are good?
thanks.

Eh, this is a very subjective thing really. I think Image Dynamics, Crossfire, and A/D/S subs to be among some of the tops. Components I might have to go with A/D/S or crossfire. Just me though, others are different.
ok what do you guys think about this:
im prolly gonna go with MB Quarts' Q or Premium series for components.
and prolly gonna go with Alpine Type R 12's for subs.
im looking for clarity more than anything. money is not too much of a factor. but it does play a role.
good setup you think?
feedback pls.
thanks.

the best setup is the one that contains the components you like installed in teh way that you like best.
if you liked how that equipment sounded in teh shop, and paid to have it installed in teh way youd liek it most (or did it yoruself)
then yes, i think youd have more than a good setup, i think youd have an awesome setup!
of course, if you personally found something you liked better, or didnt take the time to install yrou equipment in the way you thought best for you...... no, i dont thinnk thats a good setup at all.

best subs fusion by far reviewed in uk palced 1st in every catagory. alpines are ok but their cones arent to strong, if you really want to set it up right mb quart are only good subs and focal is awsome component. personaly i use ba and fusion. it sounds better than every system i have heard and i still have my old cadance amp on it not my fusion . you gotta remember that if you are going to have subs in the back you have to get a good set of components that sound good but don't show the low freq. and balance you freq. from the front to the back so the sound is distibruted evenly.

no i am not from usaci, i just know my stuff i would never run rockford stuff either unless it was something other than their punch series. and again it depends on what kind of system you want. do you just want people to know you are coming or do you want it to sound awsome or both
Components I would highly suggest Dyna Audio. I have installed a lot of those and MB Quart Q's and think personally think the Dyna's sound cleaner and have a better array of sound. As for Alpine Type R's they are pretty nice, but when I compared them to a JL W6 V2 off of a JL 500.1 they didn't really hold up (in a sealed box, which gives you the cleanest sound). Just a few suggestions, but everyone hears different and what I like you might hate. So just listen to what you can and go from there.

how does dvc imply any more power handling?
i think youve got your facts wrong my friend
i cant believe people asre still replyign ot this. the fact is there is no such thin g as the best subwoofer or the best speaker. it doesnt exist. there is something out there always that cna outperform you. you are not king of hte hill, nor ever will be. noone can say that, no woofer can say that no speaker can say that. period.
there is no best. end of topic.

i found these fusion subs
FPW1200, 450 W RMS, 4 OHM DVC, 900 W max, $110 at precisionautosound.com.
IllusiveImports:
i suppose these are the ones you are talking about and have?
and what is ba?

you have to make that distinction beforehand.
it is said by a vast majority of enthusiasts that the shiva is the best subwoofer at $125 and below budget, and tempest is the best for a $150 and below budget.
and BA is BEtteraudio (not a typo) they make only ultra high end woofers and amps, and will soon be releasing a horn component set. I am also a betteraudio rep, if anyone here would like equipment, i can get you a small discount. think brahma but with more excursion! (and a lower cost.....)

Okay technically speaking there is a Best component set and there is a best subwoofer...technically.
The Rainbow Reference components are technically the st as they have the best transient response of any 6.5 or even 4.5 in the car audio market to this date. the cones offer a maximum from 200-6000hz a .3% THD output, through some ranges it's unmeaserable. The cone is also rigid enough to stand and bounce on. The tweeter from 2800-13khz offers no measerable distortion...so technically they are the best.
Subkectively, a few people who've heard them weren't impressed.
For a subwoofer the JL W7 series offer the lowest THD, no noticable overhang in the right enclosures. But with sub bass it takes alot of distortion before anyone's ear will ever notice it. So most high end high quality subs will offer the same great sound in their respective optimal enclosures.
If your on reasonable budget some sets I'd reccomend looking into, specially if your going 2 way are
Focal Polyglass
Focal Polykevlar
Diamond Audio HEX and M6 components
JL audio XR's
MB Q Premium (or Q's $$$)
Boston Acoustics pro series
Rainbow Pro series
CDT Classic or Eurosport
Image Dynamics Kameleon
Kicker Resolution
All of these offer good solid midbass and great overall sound when installed properly. But let your ears make the final decision.
For Subwoofers the list is rediculously long and goes from Sony from to Blaupunkt, to Onyx and all over the damn place.
If you seem to like the Type R's their great subs..go for them...
if you get the 12 pop it in a 1.25 cu.ft vented enclosure tuned to 35hz...I'm pretty certain even rabbit will agree with me on that one.. those subs simply sound incredible and pound....they don't seem to half as good in a sealed setup..
Cheers

these posts are so friggin dumb. they always just end in flame wars. Ludlam- why don't you just lock all of the "which are the best x?" posts. That way this crap won't happen.
There are a lot of car audio manufacturers out there. I'm sure that there are many that most of us haven't ever heard of! Nobody can say for sure what's "the best" for anyone but themselves. Everyone has a different idea on how their music should sound. Being more expensive doesn't mean that a speaker is better or worse than another.. it just means it's more expensive. Otherwise all of those insane SQ cars with no budget would have $10,000 speakers.. but they don't. Why? Because cost doesn't say a thing about quality. Especially when it comes to your preference. You might think that a $30 pair of Jensen coaxials sound way way better than a $1500 set of MB Quart components and if that's how you feel then bam! You got your speakers! It's nobody's job but your own to figure out which speakers are the best. Go out and listen to some speakers, don't just come here and ask what everyone else thinks is the best!
I vote lock this kind of post right off the bat. Anyone with me?

I have 2 12" Infinity Kappa's pushed by a 760watt xplod. They don't kick as hard as my friend's 12" alpine type-rs but they're much deeper and imo the quality is better.
personal pref really.

i leave it open because A - I'm not a ****, B - People have to learn these things, C - I forgot what C was.
As to you Mr. Mohawk, Those are the best speakers in the world according to an RTA, an oscilloscope, and a distortion analyzer. I dont know about you, but my head doesn't have a built in RTA, oscilloscope, and distortion analyzer. Ears... its all about ears. I can hear tv's when theyre on mute when im outside a house and its really quiet out. super high pitched sounds that come from electronics. Thats why i can't sleep with a tv on

As I said..they are Technically the best..subjective scrutination ha sproven them otherwise. IASCA canadian and US Finals had 2 people running them neither came in all that high...
Same with the W7's, L7's were in more cars than anything that placed high up in Sound Quality. it's 50% Equipment 90% Setup.. with 50% of the stuff out there you can setup as good as you want but it's still not gonna be great... With the other 50% of stuff..setups the only thing that makes the difference.
you need the good 50% for the 90% to matter..but it's still only 10% when it comes down to it...
I have a feeling that quotes gonna end up in a book somewhere
