Speaker grill

Well f-me.

I go roller-blading this weekend since it was in the 60's for the first time in months.

As I am throwing my roller-blade in the trunk ...... with the bright sunlight and the angle I was looking I notice that the surround on my sub has little touch marks all the way around. Obviously its from my grill not having enough clearance for the speaker excursion.

Eclipse aluminum sub w/ a kicker round grill.

I am pissed. It hasn't hurt anything but thats besides the point.

I plan on cuttin 4 little pieces of pipe about 1/4" long and putting it under each screw to push out the grill and give me that extra little bit of clearance.

Anyone else have any ideas ??????

And no, I am not going to keep the volume down ... haha

sounds like a plan to me. i'm still trying to get the W7 style box grills for my TDX. that is one of the reasons i didn't put a grille from a different sub on mine, didn't want the sub to hit the grill while playing.
is the aluminum dented on your sub, or is it just the rubber surround?

Grrr

No dents to the aluminum.

Just faint touch marks on the rubber. You have to be at jsut the right angle to see it.

Grrr I

t just annoys me is all. Flirting w/ trouble thats for sure.

make an MDF ring and attach the grill to that.

to save effort and maybe make it look better, go to Lowes or Home Depot, they sell Nylon and steel, brass standoffs that you could use to raise the grill. I don't know about that grill but the steel ones could look nice
