amp for infinity sub and components
hi all - i was hoping to get some advice on choosing amps. i'm planning out my car install projects for the summer (little too much snow to be installing now ) and i would like some help picking amps. i'm going to get the infinity kappa perfect 6.1 components and a perfect 12" sub. i want to get two different amps, one for the components and one for the sub. right now i'm looking at audiobahn, kicker, mtx, and RF. suggestions? i really like the look of the audiobahn's, but i don't know if its all looks and no quality. i'm going for a strickly SQ setup, with the occational turn it up and thump session...
i was thinking of getting 2 of the audiobahn A2301Q's 75x2@4 for the front and bridging the amp 210x1@4 for the sub. other suggestions, opinions, options? any input would be greatly appreciated. i'd go and listen to different amps, but the selection of car audio places in columbus, ohio isn't the greatest.

btw, i haven't posted in a while, just been reading a lot of posts, feels good to be back....

i would be impressed if you could tell the sonic difference btwn two amps
if you want 75W for the front speaks, and 300-400W for the back, i would recommend just getting a kicker 600.4 or 800.4 for a little extra money. you can bridge 2 channels on it for the sub, and let the other 2 channels power your fronts.
do you really want 2 different amps for some reason? or just to power both fronts and sub?

what do you suggest then? i don't have a lot of options for things i can listen to in my area. i went and heard a set of the boston acoustic's components and they sounded NICE, but i can't find a place to get them online for cheap. i just really want a decent SQ setup that i can purchase online. i know you've said in other posts that it is whatever you listen to and like the best, but that isn't really an option for me. i've heard the P series of RF and they sound OK, but how are their X and Q lines? and what about polk? kicker? shall i continue?
and what about suggestions on subs?
ok with all that said, here is more info on what i want it for... i listen to pop, rock, rap, and a lot of trance/techno. i want something that sounds clean and clear, but can bump if needed. i already have my deck installed, its a pioneer 8400mp. price range? around 500 for components and a couple hundred for a sub (most likely a 12").
thanks for your input and suggestions!!

thanks for the input, it doesn't matter about 1 amp or two, i can defintely just do one. is kicker the way to go? i wouldn't mind having the remote bass controller so i can turn it down or up if needed...

the perfects are merely the infinity kappa's with a few tiny changes, not worth the triple price tag.
hmmm... for 500 bucks for a component set you could do a LOT... that opens your options up to focals, cdt's, orion hcca 6s comps (run at 2 ohms
) and even some 3 way sets.... for 500 you could actually spend 150 on kickpanels and then another 350 on a component set and be real happy....
what would I get with 500, kickpanels and a set of focal polykevlar 165 k components or a set of orion hcca 6s components, but thats just me

i've seen the focals on a couple different sites, but haven't heard much about them. i'll be putting in kick panels for sure

. i can't wait for the Q's to come out... i've also seen some info about the CDT's. like i said, i want it all for the SQ... what about an amp to drive them and a sub? do you agree with the 4 channel suggestion and just bridge two for the sub? and what about a decent sub for SQ? it doesn't even need to be heard out of the car, i just want it to thump in the car... i boogie for the raindrops

shiva for single 12.... cheap but great sq and can still give you occassional bump...
as for an amp, yeah, that would work, my amp would actually be perfect for you
kicker 600.4, the amp would give you both channels up front 80ish rms each, and it would give the sub 320 or so and has the remote gain
you also gotta remember, its all in the install

thank you for all the help!!
speaking of the install, i'm planning on doing a set of the Q kick panels up front, and i've already designed a custom sub box and amp rack for the trunk. i'll build it this summer. where can i find info about the sub? (also where can i buy it for cheap online?) i want to make sure i get the dimensions right. i'm planning on putting the sub behind the rear seat facing towards the front of the car. from what i've read in some of the other posts, this seems to be a good place for keeping the bass in the car and sounding good. is that right? and a random question about the mounting of the amp... could i mount the crossovers next to the amp in the trunk? i was thinking of this for display purposes as well as for being able to fine-tune once the system is in. is this a good or a bad idea?
and one last thing... what about a wiring kit? i want to make sure to buy a good set, but not spend a ton just for a name brand (aka MONSTER CABLE
)... Thread Starter
