Advice on which HU to buy
Ok, I don't know a whole lot about car audio, so maybe I can get some advice here. These are the two decks (they are both new releases) I am looking at:
Alpine CDA-9807
OR
Panasonic CQ-DF903U
I want good audio, and a nice faceplate. The panasonic definately has a nice faceplate, but is the sound up to par with Alpine? I like both and can't decide! Oh, and anyone with this panasonic or any panasonic dot matrix display, is it hard to see? I have a sony with the active black panel, and reading it in the daytime is tough. Thanks for any advice!

If you have to choose between those two, get the one with the dot matrix display. If you want bright/semi-cool looking, but awesome sounding, look at Eclipse. I got my 8051 for $280 at HiFi Buys/Tweeter (clearance, mmmmm). Although I needed an amp for it, if you're gonna play loud you need an amp anyway. Just my thoughts.
And if you want to pick between one of those two, skip them both and look at this: http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-TDnqXMtr6me/ProdView.asp?I=133DFX983&s=0&wm=su . Its the same as the Panasonic one, but with mp3/wma capability. Very swank for those road trips.

So Alpine and Panasonic are of the same quality? Because I have a Sony right now, but the laser is messed up. I want a good quality replacement thats also gonna last. I know Panasonic has a good name, but I don't know about their car audio. I have to admit though, the panasonic wins out in the looks of the faceplate, although it might be difficult to read in sunlight?
