Need help on wut kind of set up i should get for my car
Hey wassup everyone...ever since i sold my system...im kinda like sad...cuz i miss the bass that i had...lol...well anywayz...im thinkin of gettin a new system...perferbly one that will be loud as fawk...to the point where people can hear me like 1-2 block away..but at the same time sounds really really clean...as of right now....one of the setups that i am thinkin bout gettin are:
10" eclipse sw9102 which has 750 rms...1500watt output and an eclipse PA4212 2channel amp 310x2 400x1 or a jbl1200.1 amp...if anyone has any other ideas on wut kind of subs and amp i should get( eclipse, ppi, jbl, jl audio, kicker)...any help will be appreciated

the best sounding system is that which is installed properly. the equipment ( eclipse, ppi, jbl, jl audio, kicker)... takes a backseat to teh install, unless you admit that how it sounds and how loud it gets means nothing to you. thus, the actual equipment you buy, and especially its brand name, is utterly meaningless.
as to loud, thats only kinda subjective, but to be heard from a couple blocks away, thats definitely not. that means big woofers, and lots of them. definitely a tricky install, to do it right.
as to sounding clean, this is HIGHLY subjective. many people here dont like the JLw0 series. but if they sound clean to you, what difference does it make between the w0 and the w7? the eclipse ti? or teh sw series? you wont hear the difference as far as "cleanliness" is concerned. also go with what you want.
the conclusion ive come up with is this: the kind of setup you should get for your car is entirely up to you, is dependant on your budget, musical tastes, how sharp your ear is, and how much space you are willing to dedicate to the stereo. A shop should do your work, to ensure a margin of safety with the electrical system, and to ensure that your box is designed correctly. this shop should be a fairly nice shop if you expect to be heard from 2 city blocks (not a small feat!) and still expect to have a really clean sound (unless yoru ear isnt as sharp as you think); ma and pa's carstereo store isnt gonna take that time to design the box properly.
chances are, that one of your constraints will have to give for the rest. for example, my budget constraint eventually had to fold so i could do what i wanted back there.
as to specific equipment, definitely take a demo of some speakers at some shops, and pick what you like. if your ready to drop the kind of money for the stereo your describing, the shop will let you do in car tests in prebuilt boxes to ensure you get teh sound you want

When it comes to installs, I beg to differ. HiFi Buys wanted $650 to do my install, and that is when I packed it and came home. I took apart the entire interior and trunk of my car on Friday. I then applied FatMat everywhere on Saturday. Ran my wires, mounted my speakers, and hooked up my amp on Sunday. Today it all goes back together. If a person can dedicate enough time to do a proper install (and use the proper components), then more power to them. Save some money, learn about your car, everything comes out good. And building your own box is do-able , too. Most manufacturers provide the specs for a box. Save some money and build it to the manufacturers spec. You wont be disappointed, and you'll appreicate it more. Maybe thats just me.
