Good Enough?
Good Enough?
just to let you all know i am not a new member, my old name was KnightRider2k2 but had problems with it so got a new one. anyway on to the question. when my civic gets traded in for a ford ranger i will be getting i plan on going with a new setup. i was wondering if i get a JL 13w7 will a RF punch 800 be enough to power it. i know the RMS on the w7 is 1000 but i already have the punch 800 so i figured i should just use that. so will it be good enough?thanks for your help.

Youre gonna want a much higher quality amp to run those subs... not only that, but power-wise, thats slacking... those 13.5w7's hit 170ish with 4800 watts, so it can handle a pretty amount of power... JL wont even void your warranty until you hit 2000 watts
well do you think it would be good enough for now? being as i already have that amp i figured i should just use that. it would still work but will it sound good?
with a 13w7, you would be able to hear the difference between that amp and a high end amplifier. but its plenty of power, you dont need high power for high volume, preperly setup. just make sure you take your time designing and building that box, and youll love it.
its kind of like listening to mp3's. on my computer they sound just fine, but if I were to play an mp3 on an ultra hi-fi home stereo, youd be able to hear scratchy highs and intermittant bass, etc etc etc.
the same with that rockford amp. an L7 wouldnt care whats powering it, itll sound the same. but not that w7. the difference will be apparent the second you try a high end amp with a superclean signal.
to answer the question, yes, it will work, and work just fine, too.
I assume that the rockford amp can handle a 3 ohm load, too.
