PORT EXTENSION, NEED OPINIONS ?????

Port Extension Question????
One quick question, I am getting a lightning audio 4" aeroport for my subwoofer box and on the JL Audio site, it says that it should be extended 16", I guess to work best with my 12w3. The aeroport comes only in a 12" length. If I just put the port in and keep it at 12", will I hear a big difference in sound compared to if I extend it to 16" with pvc piping?

Rep Power: 0 The reason the port is specified a certain length is because different lengths will tune the enclosure
for different frequencies. Make the port length to specification; it will effect the sound.
