Good Audio Shop in the CA Central Coast area
Does anyone know of a good shop, specifically in the Lompoc, Santa Maria area (or anywhere in between Santa Barbera and SLO) that has knowledgable techs... not just installers... I have been to many shops and no one has fixed my system... the shop that originally installed it couldn't fix it
Their idea of fixing it was to purchase more expensive equipment... which I unfortunately did at first. Since then, I have tried a couple other places (none in CA, just moved here), but no one's found the problem...
I posted a thread a while ago about it, so if anyone wants the story...

I have different amps and a different sub (thought it was fixed but it wasn't) now... but same problem.
thanks

I actually have a good chance of being put in teh Santa Maria Lombards as an installer in the next couple weeks. Im doing everything i can to stay in SLO, but the installers at Lombards are insane as far as their abilities. employment there will take my skill a long way....for sure.
Lombards is a great shop, the santamaria store is a little wierd, and a couple of teh salesmen are.....odd......but the installers are top notch, epecially at teh SLO store. There are three lombards in teh central coast, SLO, santa maria, and Goleta (santa barbara) and ive seen maybe 2 cars since ive been there come back to take advantage of teh LIFETIME warrantee on labor, we have a very low turnaround rate, most of the people who come back to our store arent looking for repair, they are looking for upgrade.......
but i may be biased toward them, seeing as i work(ed) there and all......

If the SLO store is the best, I'll make the trip up there... I called the santa maria store and the person who answered the phone answered with only a "hello" (like it was his house or something)... and was kind of rude... not sure I want to go there...
VNlilMAN recommended Al & Ed's Autosound... the closest one is in Thousand Oaks... it's a little far... but prob worth it...
routine checks by installers have found nothing so far...

From reading your last post it sounds like one of 2 things. The first is find out where the ground wire is grounded and change it. I have have seen some ground wires attached to the back seat under a 10mm that hold the seat back on.
Second I would check how the speakers are mounted. If one of the terminals is grounding out, the amp and speaker will play some of the times, but after awhile it will heat the amp up and shut it down. This is most common in the front doors, especialy for shops that half *** things.
Just a few things to suggest to whoever looks at it.
do me a big favor, tell them that scuba-steve sent you. the managers name is jason the short philiino, my coworkers name is nick, the big white guy. anyone there could definitely help you with anything you need. the head installer was in the industry while i was still watching saturday morning cartoons, and the other installer can crank out boxes like you wouldnt believe. great shop, for sure
Got my car back from Lombards!
The only major thing they found was that the line-in to the sub had a very loose connection (had to do with how the amps were mounted on the box) and had worked itself out. (explains why the sub stopped two days ago)
The sub is much (by a whole lot) louder now...
My amps still get "hot", but they don't seem to shutting off now
I've had it running mid-day for at night for close to 3 hours at a high volume (not quite loud) and the amps got hot after about 30 mins, but they never shut off.
Seems like I'm good to go... my left and right channels are even finally, too!
