some sort of facts with bass...
Argiung with a guy online.. not gonna let this go to waste..so..here's some generalized info...I'm sure it's not 100% detailed or worded properly..but it's knowledge none the less..
I learned different with practicle experience.. like subwoofer alignments in given enclosures..port area theory...
It all works beutiful on paper..but so does 100% Fuel efficiency on car engines...but as far as things go with gasoline engines..90% efficiency is the best which can actually be done.
.707 alignment enclosures work incredible with very low power.. Most "true" audiophiles do not listen to music very loud at all..generally you'll never see more than 5Wrms going through their speakers..
Car audio guys..even SQ competitors..like it a bot loud .. once the woofer cone gets moving it develops alot more inertia and it makes it harder for an amplifier to stop..then reverse the cone movement. with 12 volt car systems..it's virtually impossible to have a stable enough power supply to have good enough damping and slewing (electrical brakes..basically what works out to be the damping factor at low frequency) This is where acoustical suspension becomes into play..specially at extreme excursion situations....
It's also why SPL competitors go for as much port area as possible..so the cone can move as freely as possible for more excursion..which causes much more resonace in the port..(at port tuning freq..the cone itself makes almost no sound due to cancellation..all the sound is emitted through the port)
