thx to lud for bringing this tread to my attention.....

piece of cake, used spray adhesive with trunkliner, a stretchy fabric. no more buzzing of the rear deck hitting the rear window, either. ^.^
and i personally think the third brakelight looks slick, too

check your phone boo, look under upohlstery. start calling the shops, ask for "trunkliner" thats the stuff you want. what makes trunkliner so great is its stretchy. so stretchy (not in teh elsatic way) that you can do small boxes entirely with a single piece and NO seams
you can see in teh half finished picture how it conforms to teh rear deck in every exact way. trunkliner is the best

id practice a bit first, and you should know that if you dont like it or mess up, that sprayglue isnt gonna come off the rear deck very easily

That is so cool. Nice job Whiterabbit... one question, did you pop out the red lens and stick the carpet behind it, or just nicely trim around it.
as long as it cushions to the effect of removing the buzzing of hard plastic vibrating against teh windshield, sure.....
assuming your buzzing originates from teh rear deck hitting teh rear windshield.......

Not a good eye, that was just my first thought. That is a great idea. One more question that came to mind, I see you didnt cut around that key hole. Do you just not use it? Plus if i did this, how would. Also any problem poping it back on the deck, since it added a little bit of thickness. I also put some mat on that back, so mine was a pain to pop back on anyway.
I went to a car audio shop, and they actualy ordered me factory Honda carpet, that is used in the civic....thats what I used...was only 20 bucks for a roll thats like 15 feet long by 5 feet wide....I covered my keyhole as well, since my seats dont click back into place from the amp wires going through them. But to leave the opening would be simple....cover the deck, and then find the hole...make a cut in the shape of an X through the hole, and fold the 4 flaps inside the hole and glue them down...there, perfect.

diy:
remove your rear deck
cut carpet large enough to have at least 2 inches or more of space all round
remove 3rd tail light
spray glue, and apply, making sure that teh material is stretched (it needs to be stretchable carpet, important!) as you go around teh center, so no folds appear
work from one end to teh other
cut a slit lengthwise across teh brakelight, fold inside and tack it down
flip over and go around the whole edge tacking down the exess, fold it under.
return to car.
this is a DIY for ANY panel, including the c pillars, which ive done already, the several boxes ive carpeted, the b pillars/a pillars which Ive yet to carpet, or just a plain MDF panel, like as a trim piece. or any kickpanel, or anything at all, really
