Big speakers install ?

I want to know if it is posible to mount alpine type R components in the doors, the depth is 2 3/4 " and thats a lot. How big of a spacer can we fit before it interferes with the plastic door cover? Will it touch the window?
Please help , install starts tomorow!

1/2" spacer should work if they are only 2 3/4".

you may have to do what I did and shave the speaker ring built into the door panel for clearance.. take a dremel and shave off all but 1/4" of the ring..and you shouldn't have any window or door panel clearance issues..

I fit Type-X in my doors and I used 3/4" MDF to make spacers and had no problems! We have lots of space between the Doors and the panels!
