How Bout This Setup??????????????????????
Hey everyone, I am probably going to buy a sub with amp soon for my civic. I already got a Alpine CDA-7893 unit that I installed and all stock speakers. I want to get a single JL Audio 12" sub but I am not sure what type of amp I should get. I am looking at a 450W Kenwood amp. I want an amp that will give me a good boost increase and sound pretty nice. I really only have around $500 to spend, and even this system that I just mentioned goes over $100 of what I am willing to spend. Will this setup sound nice with all my other stock components and alpine HU? If not, does anyone have any recommendations for sub amps that cost at most $200? Thanks!

Well for $200 dollars there are not too many options for sub amps, but you will probably want to go for a class D for cheap power. Class D amps are usually made as dedicated sub amps, and unless you are a true audiophile, you won't notice the difference betweena class D and Class A/B amp on a sub. You will probably want to decide what Sub you want before you choose an amp, because depending on the ohm rating on the sub you will want to look for an amp that is optimized at that ohm load. For the Kenwood amp that you are thinking of getting, is it 450 Max or 450 RMS? A max rating can be misleading, and usually does not really give an accurate assesment of an amps power. Look for an Amps RMS rating for how much power it really puts out. Some companies also underrate their amps (ie: MTX
).
Here are some good amps for around a 2 spot (keep in mind that yo cannot buy much for 200):
This is probably the Kenwood you were talking about?
Alpine Amp
Kicker 400.1
I wish I can post some more, but I am on my old skool iMac because the other computers in my house are occupied or broken. This computer takes for ever to load something when two or more windows are open. Check Ikesound.com for JBL BP amps as well

OK, so then it comes down to these two amps, the Kenwood KAC-819 or the Alpine M300 V12. I noticed that the Alpine unit is rated a little higher than the Kenwood, but the kenwood is more in my price range. Since im not a big music guru like some of the people I know, will I even hear a difference in the sound quality between these two sub amplifiers?
