so anyone have any ideas how to mount a cylindric (i think thats the right word) capactior to a board?

Go to a car audio store, or visit a website that sells car audio and look for capacitor mounts....they are like 10 bucks...or you could always buy some stereo straps (about 3/4 inch wide strips of metal with holes in them) and bend it around the capacitor and screw it to the board that way....

i use velcro to mount my cap, it holded pretty well
