4 channel amp question
How did you guys with a 4 channel amp wire your front speakers? A guy at work told me to run the speaker up to where the deck is and connect the speakers there using stock wiring. He told me to do it like that cause it would be impossible to fish it into the door.
Is it possible to fish the wire through the rubber tube and into the door? I would rather do it that way if I can.

I have done it two ways, with the crossover in the door and the crossover in the trunk. For my current speakers the crossover is way to big for the door so I have it in the trunk. It is pretty damn hard to get it through the rubber grommet into the door, but this is the best way. You want to have better wiring then the stock wiring. If you take it to a shop they may do it the easy way and just wire the amp back to the stock wiring. I personally had a hell of the time putting it through the grommet, so I just slit it on the bottom to help me get it through. The slit is hard to notice unless you really look. I think that most people will say to use a hanger to get it through. What ever tickles your pickle
I use heavy duty 24" zip ties my self, they don't damage the door wiring like a coat hanget would and are very strong and flexable. That's how I did the doors on my 02 civic. just fish it from the interior out toward the door once some of it's showing in the door tape the speaker wire to the zip tie on the in side, pull it through and there you go!
I'm with Elmo all the way. Zip ties are the easiest way to get thru doors. Are doors are fairly simpe to get thru compared to the older civics that basicly has boots the size of drinking straws. You can use the factory wiring but I would spend the time running new wire.

everyone's saying to run new wires... but why??
i mean, what kind of boost in sq can you get from running new wires?
or is it a question of too much current being pushed through?

Well, you have to with components because you should use the crossover that come with components because the crossovers are specifically formatted for the speakers .
Second, the stock tweeter has an inline crossover that you don't want to use.
Third, the stock wiring is like 20 gauge!! If you are putting more current through, you want a lower gauge to carry stronger currents to your speakers for less power loss and better SQ.
