go to a local audio store. and listen for your self. dont go to best buy. IMO
OK I've been into and selling car audio equipment since before i could drive and i'm 24 now. the BEST brand to go with if you want quality for your dollar is PIONEER hands down. Personally I have eclipse, us amps, pheonix gold, mb quart....etc but you cant beat pioneer as far as quality/$$$. And even now recently they have been making more high end stuff also. But if you dont know that much about car audio then stick with pioneer and buy their equipment that is low-mid grade and i'm sure you'll be happy with what you get.

I would recomend MTX amps if you are looking for an amp. I have one, and I love it, and it was WAY underated in terms of power. Granted, MTX is not the top of the line, but there amps are better then mosts IMO.
For HUs, I have always been Kenwood biased, but that is just me. Most people say Eclipse or Alpine, but no one evr justifies why Alpine is so much better then Kenwood. I don't really like Pioneer; my gf has one in her car and it has a ton of useless feature, is hard to use, and it is just not very impressive to me.
For speakers, i can only recommend what i have heard, and these brands are worth chekin out in a store: Infinity, MB Quart, Boston, and JL. These brands are usually pretty easy to find.
For Subs, JLs are good. I like the Adire audio Shiva's that I have. I like IDs and Eclipses to when I have heard them in stores and car shows.
