What is Q?
I have been able to figure out most of the features on my new HU except for one or two.
Can anyone tell me what the Q setting does? There is a Bass Q that can be adjusted from 1, 1.25, 1.5, and 2. There is also a Mid Q that can be set from 1 to 2. As I make the Q setting a bigger number the Q graph shortens on the side and there then is a taller peak. Any ideas?
I listen to sports talk radio every morning and I am getting WAY to much bass in the voice. I currently have my LPF set to 80 and my HPF to my fronts set to 100 htz. I turned down the my non-fading Bass output 5 dbs, and I set my LPF to 50 htz and I still get voice from the subs. Would my Q setting have anyhting to do with that? I may just leave my LPF set to 50 and my HPF set to 100 because I get less voice from the subs that way.

The Q is the damping factor.. setting it at 2 for the subs will givr you way over damped music...leaving it at 1 would allow the amp to send the sub the signal it should be getting and not an over dampened signal.

The Q allows you to control the bandwidth of the boost around the center frequency. Lower numbers will give you a wider bandwidth, and larger numbers will give you a narrower bandwidth.
As far as having voices in the sub, this is not the case. There is something wrong with your crossover, especially if you have it crossed over to play 50hz and below and still get voices.

I used to have it at 80/80, but 80/100 sounds better...my friend says to cut off the highs even more because that is what he does...I like how it sound now

not necessarily bad... you just wont get any response in that area.... thats why lots of people get midbass drivers so they can get that nice area of 70 to 120 which is vital to all non-rap/dance music
example, if you run infinity kappa's (which a lot of people here do) and you amp them, you will have nothing below 110 clearly... and most subs really dont do 110, mostly 50-80... so you get midbass drivers... some higher end component sets get down to a nice 70 or 80 though
