Nice sub!!!!.... a setup like in the pic you showed sometimes doesn't work out all that well... You might lose alot of your cars natural cabin gain.I had my 2 Audiomobile EVO-R's setup like that but in a low tuned ported enclosure and it sound extremely good... sealed though I would have lost alot of low end..

what amp you gonna use on that sucker?

JBL 1200.1 (cost reasons) so i need the crossover to compensate for their sucky one
I'm still deciding on what box design i want to build. Got any cool ideas?
I already replaced the floor of my trunk with 5/8 MDF covered with vinyl. SWEET
I am probably going to cover the box in vinyl too, but I want an awesome looking install
so i am dragging my feet on what to do. ARGH!

well..you can slightly re-do your trunk and mount the sub in the spare tire well. or if both of your amps look vey similar, you can mount the sub against your seats (back of trunk) and mount the amps next to them at an angle and show them off and still have trunk space..

Also the JBL's crossovers don't exactly suck...they do their job..but they a good outboard active crossover would be better yes.. specially one with a subsonic filter and 24db/octave slope...a Phoenix Gold bass cube would be good for that...only one that pops into me head...

Are you gonna use the sub in a sealed or ported setup?...

Sealed because i've never worked with ported and therefore know nothing about it but feel
free to suggest something that u think would be beneficial
And....i'm kinda confused about the setup u mentioned....im retarded...

you not retarded..I can't even understand what I'm trying to say..I need a pic..lol.

do you have a coupe or sedan?..

The MASS works optimally sealed and low end gets utterly retarded if you put it in a low tuned ported enclosure...but with the JBL's power it might bee too much if you go ported....

If you have a Sedan 1.15cu.ft sealed after sub displacent lightly packed with polyfill...

If you have a coupe .95 cubes exactly and heavily packed with polyfill..

Both would work out very flat with the respective cars cabin gain if you deaden your trunk and rear deck well

Why a different amp??

Also Peal and Seal works allright....but it's adhesive is nowhere near as good as those in Raammat, fatmat or brown bread..so it might peel and stop sealing after awhiele

im assuming he reccomends the amp due to its flaws... Xover, slew rate, etc etc... also, it may be too much power for one.. the sub is rated at 650 to my knowledge...

mo mentioned phoenix gold for Xovers, also look into audiocontrol ... i got mine on ebay for 38 bucks shipped

Okay was just wondering your reasoning behind it. Class D on an average sub on average setup can't be told apart from a good class a/b..when you get a great sub..you can tell clean off the bat

i have no idea if this is true, its just what i have experienced, which is why im reccommending a higher quality amp.

it's not...use a JBL 1200.1 or any class D amp.. then use a PPI or Arc class a/b amp (massively high slew rates) and you'll see the ddifference on high quality sub in a box with a .707 alignment

ebay....

also i would highly reccommend the XI series hifonics amplifier. youll never find an amp with more features. testing out a hifonics 600 watt amp at 8 ohms versus my 1200.1 at 8 ohms, SPL test only (goingby teh most important meter, my ear) the hifonics DESTROYED the 1200.1.

also the 24 db BANDPASS crossover and SEPARATE outputs for remote gain AND remote bass boost, you ahve more tunability than youll know what to do with!

you can get a 1200 watt hifonics for under 500, and they make a HUGE ssortment of various sizes!

If your looking for a PPI amp, I'll sell you mine. Its a PCX1500, 1000 watts RMS at 2ohms. Retails for $1199, but it has a couple scratches on the top of it. I'd let it go for $450. Its about 4 months old.
