do I really need another amp?
do I really need another amp?
Alright, I originally bought a 4-channel 35RMS/channel amp to drive my infinity components up front and the pioneer 3-ways in the back. The infinity's I decided were being underpowered so I bridged the infinity's and wired the pioneers up to the stock HU speaker input again instead of using the amp in the rear. I was talking to a friend and he said I really should get another amp if I want to run the 70watts to each infinity so I was thinking about getting an Alpine 2-channel 50RMS/channel amp to drive the rear speakers and I figured in the future I could play around with it if I wanted a sub. Is this a good idea? or should I be able to leave my system with the rear speakers going off the regular stock HU power and the components off the amp and still make it sound good? I think I'm just having trouble getting everything balanced for a good stage. Thanks!
The rear speakers I currently have are only supposed to take 40 watts per channel, the infinity's need 75 watts per channel. If I get a bigger four channel I'll be way over powering the rear speakers. I just wanna know if I even need to amp those rear speakers or if I should just leave it.

just stick wid the rears runnin off the HU power..... the rear is just filler anyway..... when i get components i'm gonna do the same thing... bridge em to run the fronts.... run the rear off HU.....
The only problem I seem to have run into by doing that is I cut out some bass. The fronts are overpowering the rear right now and so I'm thinking I either need to get a little more bass out of the rear or try adding a sub. Or maybe I should buy another amp and power a subwoofer off of it. What are the general opinions of the infinity basslinks? I know they aren't like JL subs, but are they decent? I don't want REALLY powerful subs so thats why I was wondering about those.
I'd get a good quality 4-channel amp, you can always adjust your output levels and if it is a decent amp, you can turn the rears down and the fronts up for optimal sound. If you still have stock rear speakers, I'd replace them with better quality, tho.
They aren't stock speakers in the rear. Pioneer 3-ways that handle 40watts RMS, the fronts take a lot more than that though. If I get a good quality amp I will destroy those rear speakers. I dunno, I'm considering an infinity basslink because they are real small and don't take up a lot of room, and then just take out the rear speakers maybe? Something to consider.
