Do Amps for inside speakers matter?

I have a pair of infinity 6.25I's in the rear of my sedan and getting the infinity 605cs's installed next week. I have seen alot of dicussion when it comes to amps for powering different sub setups. My question is, does it really matter what AMP you use to power your speakers inside? I am still confused as to what to do. I am looking for a balance of SQ and loudness. I have this bet going with a friend of mine and we have until March 2003 to fix our sistems up. I know my incar speakers are decent, should I be getting a four channel amp or a two channel amp? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? The 6.25i's are not that good for bass so I am looking for some midbass . Are there any suggestions out there?

It would help me out alot.

The amp you use does effect the SQ of your speakers. For your door speakers and rear deck speakers you want an amp with the lowest amount of total harmonic distortion (THD). Also you want to run RMS power through the speakers. These are a few of the things I look for.

I don't think there is much difference between a 2ch and a 4ch amp. I would say the only thing you should be concerned about when buying a 2ch or a 4ch amp is the amount of space you have in your car or where you are planning on putting the amp.

Your component woofers should give you some decent midbass up in the front so I think you should be good to go. Just wait until you get those component installed. I think you'll be surprised. Infinity makes some good stuff.

the amp for your speakers is much more important than the amp for your subs.. distortion is almost impossible to hear in bass so amps for subs don't make enough of a difference for 99.9% of the population to notice..

If your running front and rear speakers I'd reccomend getting a 4 channel amp so you can fade the front and rears.. The more imporant thing to look for is a 4 channel amp with front and rear highpass crossovers..most only highpass the front and low pass the rear which leads to very sloppy sound in the rear because your speakers are trying to play bass.

Or you can use the amps high pass crossover for the front and buy some 120Hz Bass blockers for the rear..

Post any specific questions you have on this thread and I'll get back to you when I get the chance. Look at a bunch of amps and their features online first to get an idea.

I was in my friend's car and he has a box and an amp , plus in car speakers. See I was not really impressed because he was able to crank the volume all the way up to 25 of 30. I was in the backseat, it was loud but I could stand it. I am looking for a four channel amp with SQ and loudness, so loud that putting it up 20 of 30 would be too much. I am not saying it should distort after the 20 setting, but it just should be too loud for a normal human to sit in the back seat. What kind of wattage should I be looking at. Again, I have infinity 62.5i' in rear and 605cs in the fronts.

Amp brand names anyone???

Thanks,

Brand names mean pretty much squat..it's power you want.. the Infinity references will distort with alot of power though..if you want stupid loud, nothing beats Focals for the price...try this..good price..plenty of power..clean amp..

Here U go

If you want something with a better brand name..

Can you tell me what the range of frequencies are? What constitutes high's, lows and mids? I want something that will have a choice of high and low pass on the fronts and rears.
