I don't know anyone who owns a Blaupunkt stereo in their car. I'm assuming there is a good reason for it. Most people go for bigger names and more of what other people already have such as Sony, Kenwood, Pioneer, Alpine, etc.
It seems a little expensive for the features it comes with. I would suggest Alpine or Kenwood. The display on the Blaupunkt is pretty simple and plain, also. But consider a different HU. $500 is a lot to spend if you end up not liking it.

That white on blue display looks like it'd be hard to see with the sun coming through the windshield. Our cars have a sucky radio position, so consider that before buying a "pretty" HU. In my opinion, a white on black display works best, especially if you can adjust the contrast.
Something like this Kenwood wouldn't be hard to see in the daytime:

thw Blaupunkt Los Angeles shares the same parts with the Sony MP3 player.. Blaupunkt car audio is all made and manufactured by Sony..some of the HU's are even identical except for color schemes..it's not that good of a unit..
For MP3..Panasic, Pioneer, and Kenwood seem to be the best options....the Pionerr 7300MP can be found online pretty cheap and is about the best bang for your buck MP3 unit you can grab

*Blaupunkt is a german company and i thought that the headunits are made in germany so why would a german company be using sony parts, it doesnt seem to make sense?
*also the people who have pioneer deh-840mp/8400mp how is that volume stability feature( the one where it turns up the volume automatically when there is more road/engine noise) does it really work or not really?

Blaupunkt finds it cheaper to subcontract the manufacturing of their car audio to another company (sony) it's cheaper for them....Honda is a Japanese company yet most of the civics we drive are made in Cananda or the US......
I was very pleased with the Blaupunkt HU in my car for exactly ONE YEAR. Then it quit telling the preamp out lines to light up my amps & speakers - all I was left with was my filler speakers in the rear deck
But hey, its under warranty so I'm gonna send it back.
In the meantime, it has been replaced with an Alpine CDA-7893 (good for MP3's but you can't see the display in daytime either
