I would say go with Viper, they have a good backing of support form the import industy but at the same time they offer a wicked warranty on your car if it is actually stolen with your alarm in it still.
my buddy has one on his jeep, i'm getting one very soon. They're awesome.. work good too. Sometimes when I'm bored I kick his jeep and set it off just to see him come running outside.
Clifford/Viper have a new one that just came out that has the LCD pager, I would try to get that one if you can afford it. I personally think it would be worth it, but I don't have the money to do it yet. Its the Clifford Matrix RS3(?) and the Viper 550Esp? I think those are the models. They don't have em on the directed website yet, but just call around to authorized dealers and ask them if they have the new alarm from clifford or viper that has the remote style youre looking for.
EDIT: It is on the clifford site now, my mistake. Its the Matrix RS3

I've got a compustar with the remote paging and LCD screen.. Its great, shows if the doors open, trunks popped, window is broken, and when I remote start it, it shows exhaust coming out.. Luckily no one has broken in yet but if they ever do I'll know as long as i'm withing a quarter mile range but they have a new model out I think that has 2 mile range!!

Imo, I think the remotes are useless. Well, if you are very close to your car, I guess you could run out and confront a thief who may very well shoot you.
OR at least you will be notified that your stuff is being stolen and exactly what they are stealing at the time. Any respectable thief will be gone by the time you get to the car.

They're pretty useless also if you have a manual, cause one of the reasons they cost so much is because they are remote start. So if you have a manual they would just have to bypass it and you spent money on something you don't need.

You could do it but it would be very dangerous and very risky. Also I would not put my car in the hands of a "controller" to determine whether it starts up in gear and rams into the wall I parked in front of.
They can do it though.

this topic has been talked about many times, putting remote start on a manual is perfectly safe as long as its done properly. there is a safety switch that ONLY allows it to remote start if its in neutral with the E-brake on. Its that simple, if you dont do that it won't start. It doesnt cost any more, what costs more is that fact you have to buy this device that uses a key so it bypasses the immobilized. Other than that it should be able to install on a manual no problem at all. I have one and it works fine, never had any problems whatsoever with it!
