Does anyone know a XM addon unit that can attach to an existing head unit by RCA inputs?? ALL the XM addon's I've seen go through an XM modulator and I'd rather have a direct input since I dont have a radio in my car (just CD/dvd) I found a jensen Sirius receiver that can addon like I want but I heard they might go out of business so i'd rather get XM.. any help would be great...
I thought Sirus was the supplyer of XM? It's on all the aftermarket headunits I've seen..... including my kenwood unit. To IDQ - check out www.crutchfield.com, they have a big selection of XM recievers that connect to aftermarket and stock headunits. Maybe they'll have something for you.

Xm rocks , i love mine .. i have had it for about a year .. almost .. The delphi unit is a killer unit i like it alot, but its having problems , with the screens goin out and they have a bad rf unit .. there are issues with the hookin up a rf unit to this system its adds some serious noise ..... i have a direct link to my alpine and i love it sooo much ... there are adapters but only really direct link and RF..... with ekenwood you can do eiter sirius or XM .. there is a company sound gate i believe .. that makes a adapter to hook up XM radio to a serious ready radio its soo pimp .

Oh no... so many things to explain.
Sirius and XM are competing companies. They both offer satellite radio service. XM has 150 channels, 100 commercial free, and Sirius has 155 channels, 75 commercial free.
XM costs 9.99 a month, Sirius costs 12.99 a month.
Some aftermarket radio manufacturers have teamed with one or the other. Kenwood with Sirius, Sony with XM, etc. That's why you're seeing the logos.
Sirius does not offer "XM". They're two different companies that offer the same technology, with a little difference in price and what channels they offer.

That delphi unit looks pretty sweet, but it says you need to purcahse a car kit separarely. Kit says the car kit uses a casstte adapter, wtf??? who has a tape deck in there car any more, I need a unit with RCA inputs, I don't know why manufactures don't make something like this, it would be the easiest way to hook it up to a car stereo...

IDQCivic... most of the cassette adapters can also use RCA adapters. The plug and play Sony ones, for instance, even come with the RCA wires so you could use the auxilary input on your head unit. For the ones that dont, all you have to do is go to Radio Shack and purchase a wire that has a male stereo miniplug on one end and two male RCA jacks on the other end, will cost you about $5-$15 depending on how long you want the wire to be.
XM all the way, the programing is incredible on teh dance stations. I use the Alpine 7998 head and seperate XM tuner which I nicely buried in the back wall, when you pull off the driver side rear seat armrest, which is one huge piece, I reverse mounted it with bolts. Just hope no one hits me doing more than 30 mph in that area or else I'm replacing an XM tuner too.
my Head unit has the xm setup on it alreay so all i need is the reciever and service its cool because i dont need to waste that $100 or more to get that lil screen and i can use that money to get it installed but i need to find the pioneer reciver does neone kno whre i could get one?

i would get sirius, but i dont want to spend money on the reciever and antenna, plus i dont like the way the antenna looks, little turtle thing on the roof of the car.
if there is a price drop in the equipment, i'll get it.

i have xm, and the commercials are very few and far between, i rarely hear them, or notice them i guess. And whoever said the dance programming is great on xm is crazy, sirius has 2 more channels and better programming for that music.

My XM receiver broke after 2 weeks! Also, the programming is terrible. I listened to maybe 5 stations that played music I've actually heard of before. The others are just talking or unknown music. This is funny, but probably my favorite station was actually a radio station (LA KISS). Top 20 played rap all the time instead of hits. Stupid
