Box type for Audiomobile
Ok, i'm going to be running a single 12 Evo-R with (of course) a JBL 1200.1.
My question is should i have a sealed or ported box? I've never built a ported box,
and thus don't know anything about doing so, so if that's the optimal box style I
could use some instruction. Any imput would be helpful.

I want to fill the low end that my Kappa components lack, and also be able to show off a
good bit of boom when i want to get some attention. I did some research and found that
the Evo-R is a good mix of SQ and SPL so I am going with that. I listen to literally all kinds
of music, too, so defining a peticular genre would be hard. Thanks for the help.

what's the output difference between sealed and ported? i mean, what are the benfits of a ported box? i have a sealed one, and it sounds fine. one last thing, are bandpass boxes any good??? cuz i wanna change my box, but i really don't know what i should do.
i have a bandpass box they're typically a lot heavier and very "boomy" such as where the bass kind of reverbs throughout the car. sealed hits a lot harder and tighter, whereas bandpass is more efficient, letting you run less power to the subs.

Speaking from experience here..I've owned that sub and gave it 1100Wrms and blew it .. it's great sealed...run it in 1.1 cu.ft sealed net volume and fill the box half way with fiberfill..make sure it's completely sealed. Any air leakes at all will reduce the subs power handling..
