im buying a head unit...
im deciding on buying a new head unit and i was wonderin on your opinions what head unit is nice for their money...im thinkin bout 4 or 5 bills? it would help a lot thanks... im goin for looks too ...

Rep Power: 0 not to flame you or anything, but you should try posting in the ICE forum, you'd probably get more responses, and they'd be more helpful being that it's centered around in car entertainment. the mods in there are really helpful. maybe one of the mods here could move this for ya.

Seriously though, check out the Pioneer ones with the OEL display otherwise you can't see the display

Rep Power: 0 hell no, go for the sony 5DI, the one where you can put 15 sec of image in as your screensaver, that one is tight. or get a rio hard drive headunit. i'm definitely going for the sony if im u, sony best design

Rep Power: 0 I've had this headunit for a number of months, and I still think it kicks ***! Doesn't have all the bells and whistles like the higher end units, but it's cheap, it's got the organic display, and it has screensavers...I think it was the best bang for the buck...

Rep Power: 0 It all depends on what you are looking for. "Best" could practically mean anything with a head unit. If you were looking for SQ (aren't we all [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/IMG]) then I would suggest the following:
Alpine CDA-7939/49/69
Sony CDX-C90
Clarion DRX-9255/9675
Probably would be pretty tough to find any of these new, but they are all readily available on Ebay and within your price range.

Rep Power: 0 If you want SQ, go for an Alpine or eclipse.
Alpine 7894 - I have this one and can barely see the display during the day. I would go for the Alpine 7998 if I could do it again. Well, that and if I had another 3 bills. It does not have an internal amp though.
Like I said, Alpine doesn't have the fancy displays with cars and stuff dancing around, but the SQ is about as good as it gets.

Rep Power: 0 Personally most people would be happy with most of the typical brand name decks out there. For me it was more the issue of the angle of the dash and the glare w/ the radio.
I went with the Pioneer organic display since even in reletively bright conditions the display is still readable. My old deck was less than a year old, had more features, and overall a better deck ..... but for the most part I couldn't read it worth a shEit.
