Its ok to be a brand bi@tch ..... just kidding.

Seriously though, all one brand helps with looks to a point.

Do a tastefull install, make a nice amp board, hide wires,
etc ..... and it won't make a difference. Its all about how
it is presented.

Oh, and I wouldn't consider JL as lacking in the amp dept.
Their generally pretty bad @ss .....

I would go with Alpine or Eclipse HUs.

I would go with Alpine for Amplifiers.

I would go with MB Quarts for speakers.

If you want sq, alpine is one of the best choices. Quarts are simply awesome speakers imo. I just don't think that any other brand can beat them when it comes to sq or clarity. The tweeters are very, very, bright though. My suggestion is to go to a high-end store in your area and listen to all the brands and models that you are considering.

Lastly, if you are really conscientious about brands and wanting the best stuff, do some research and see what the guys use that consistently win competitions.

if you go eclipse, youll lack on components, but remember, nobody will see your components...
if you go JL, they make everything they make beautifully, but they dont make HU's...
if you go alpine, you'll be lacking in speakers in general...
in your situation, i would go JL all around with the Eclipse HU OR go eclipse all around and get any components you like, its not like youll have speaker grills showing for components, only place you can see it is the logo on the tweeter grill, and you can get rid of that

where are you getting the 130amp alt??? mralternator.com??

Just think .... just because its a Honda doesn't mean you can only put only Honda OEM / aftermarket parts on your baby. Get any brand you want for the part you want. Just do er up nice.

My personal preference is to mix and match to a certain extant. Looking back I wish I would have matched both of my amps, but that is it really. I think it is also good to match front speakers with rear speakers (if you are using rear speakers), but not neccesarily subs.

Usually most companies excel in one catagory (ie: Kenwood makes good CD players, but not good subs, or RF makes good amps but not headunits) This is why it is usually good to mix and match. In my old cars I tried to buy all Kenwood for my system, but I never bought the Kenwood subs (I am not even sure if Kenwood made subs back then).

If you are looking to mix and match JL is probably you best bet from what I hear and read.

It is a style over substance issue for sure, but I think that there are a few companies that excel in a few catagories.

seems like you have some money to spend, since you are looking at JL and Eclipse, but why not Diamond Audio? i heard some of there stuff, and its good.
they make amps, subs, components and coaxils ( of course, no HU )

if i had the money, i would get the following:
diamond audio: M6 components, M3 coaz for rear, M6 12" sub ( or 2 of them ), 2 D5 amps ( one 4 channel, one monoblock for sub )
then either a pioneer or alpine HU, i like those best.

just look around, it might be hard to do all of one brand and be completely satisfied, cause some brands make good and bad stuff, its a mix, but i would go with JL or diamond audio.

ludlam........yes the alternator is from mralternator.com it was 245 and get it in about a week

well one of the shops around here carry mb quarts components with jl subs(im thinkin 12w7 or 12w3), amps and another shop sells diamond audio and eclipse(12" alum)
ill probably go with one of the shops for everything.....but what jl amp to use with the components and subs,......elipse amps are alil pricey to me and 85x2 amp is like 400

slick..... i do have money to spend but occasionally i see the word CHEAP and it opens my eyes alil wider ........kinda like memphis amps have alot of power for cheaper prices

hah, yea, i see CHEAP all the time, lol. but in that case to, you should look at the M3 series stuff from diamond, along with D5 amps, its diamonds cheaper stuff, but i think it sounds good. eventually, i will get those M3 components, they are nice for the price.
