Whats that sound coming from?

Hey guys! Im new here and i have a 2002 civic LX sedan. There is a little buzzing sound coming from the altenator and i have a kenwood HU, 420 ampifier 2 ch that powers 2 subs. Me as being an everyday driver how long do you guys think the altenator (probably bout 40 min a day) will last before it dies out? Is there a company out there that makes a better altenator? And is it worth getting an OPTIMA battery? Thanks!

it's not the battery or the alternator...it's your wiring....you most likely ran your RCA's right under the fusebox on the drivers side...this will add that noise...or your RCA and power wire are very close to each other at some point,,

And check your grounds, make sure they are 100%.

Sand, scrape, file, and get the best connection possible.

I went through this saturday night. Got some new components put in. The installer re-arranged some things and moved the amp board. Bad hum all of a sudden. Claimed it was my older dammaged RCA's. I was like it didn't do it before and my RCA's are 2 year old Moster Cables. I knew they were fine.

I went home pissed. Resanded my ground (they had relocated it) and double shielded the RCA's anytime it got near anything with power and from where it pokes out of the back seat all the way to the amp in the trunk.

Now even between cd tracks, full volume, and revin the engine I get NO more engine noise at all.

First I used a heavy duty spiral plastic wrap. More for bundling cables together. After that I covered it with split loom wrap. So my RCAs got huge, ended up bigger round than my thumb, but it was worth it in the end.
