replacing trunk floor with plywood???

replacing trunk floor with plywood???

i remember seeing a post where someone did this...
i need to know if there is a big diference if i use 1/2" or 3/4" plywood, also, he cut the floor across after where his box was and put hinges so he could get under the floor easily, anyone remember seeing this? or has anyone done this? i just dont want the box movin around and i dont want the floor to sag after time...

i replaced mine with MDF (man is it heavy!) i think mo used ply. much lighter, and even stiffer. I have bought 1/2 inch ply for a box I am building, and if press board is what most cars come with stock, then 1/2 will be more than enough for you. 3/4 will be stiffer and heavier, but its not like you are installing a working jackhammer on it, right? If it's not for an enclosure, 1/2" MDF with a cross brace underneath.

cool, so 1/2" ply it is!
thanks guys, now all i need are suggestions on what to do with the cargo net tie-downs that are attached to the metal trunk floor...
are the screwed in or snapped in?

MDF = Medium Density Fiberboard

IMO, plywood could buzz with the subs if it's the cheap variety. [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/IMG]

marine grade birch ply, or furniture grade. best to use for finishing work of any kind. also stiffer than MDF at a fraction of the weight.
