Sweet setup ..... I am considering placing my stuff in the
same spot ..... and same jbl 1200.1 ...
My question is does it ever overheat or anything ...... is
there enough room back there for it to operate w/o any
problems? Even if it did get toasty, rigging up a few fans
wouldn't be to hard.
I dig the setup since you would be able to throw things
in the trunk, yet if you still want to show the equipment
off all you have to do is throw down the seats .... and
there it all is. Protected and out of view, yet easy to
get to when you want.
Lookin good ....

The JBL has actually never overheated, but the MTX has (but it was my fault). The MTX overheated becaue I had my components speakers bi-amped, but I had my crossovers set to single-amp mode which made it so hot that it burnt my hand when I touched it (and the amp shut off)...but even with it being hot there was enough room to keep the amp from touching the back seat. I have the cap in between the backseat and the box which keeps the box a few inches from the back of the seats.
About the JBL amp: It it strickly a "no frills" amp. If you want power for cheap it is the way to go. I highly suggest getting a infrasonic filter if you get this amp, because i blew my first set of perfects in a few days with this amp. Most higher end amps with this much power tend to have a infrasonic filter. I bought some Harrison Labs "sub-sonic" filters which have worked fine for me. I put the perfects in a Q-logic ported box with the ports aiming towards the empty speaker holes in the back. It really does not get too loud, but I personally have never heard sub-woofers sound this tight in a ported box. Most of my friends have Kicker speakers, and my one friend who always did my system when i was younger (and all of my friends too) has Cerwin -Vega Strokers (but his old now and has a 9 to 5)...so there cars get much louder then mine even with the 1200 watts.
I have the gain set to about 3/4s of the way up and the bass boost a lil over half way and no problems...however, sometimes and when I have the car running and parked I hear this loud fan (?)...and I don't even know what that is
