Front Components Install q's
Front Components Install q's
Been reading here a lot lately absorbing information about the fronts components.
I have decided to go w/ Diamond Audio M6 6.5" Components.
I want to keep everything as stock as possible, no baffle cutting, no wire cutting, or anything like that .....
The 6.5" drivers are 2 1/8" deep. Crutchfield claims a depth of 2" for our car. I plan on ordering a 1/2" spacer for this.
Now my question is w/ the wiring. I want to get speaker connectors so I don't have to cut the existing wiring inside the door.
- What am I going to need?
- Speaker connectors for both tweeter and driver?
- Bypass for existing factory crossover (is there even one)?
- Can anyone describe how the wiring is inside the door ?
And now about the tweeters ......
- Should I mod the A-Pillars for the tweets or place them somewhere else?
- Wheres the most common place to install them (dash, down by woofer, mod the A-Pillars, etc.)?
Thanks, you guys kick *** w/ all the info I have got already.

If your going tobe getting speakers of that quality..I seriously hop you'll be using an amplifier to power them..othewise it's a waste. If you are running an amp to them..the OEM wiring is too small to handle anyhting more than about 50 watts...just run a new speaker wire into the doors from your trunk...If your not going to run an amp..and don;t plan to run an amp.. get speakers more suited to low power applications..

it'll only be 90X2 ..those are 4ohm speakers..but still plenty of juice.. I'd highy reccomend running a new 16 guage or thicker speaker wire from the amp to the Crossovers..and from the crossovers to the speakers..
Sorry, typo ... should be 180x2 @ 4 ohms
(2 ohms not allowed .. )
They go for 170 max so it should be a good match.
Any other advice on the tweets ?????
Thanks for the advice so far ....

For the tweets...well depends on where you want to install them.. Play around with different locations..like in the kickpanels.. in the A-Pillars.. Corners of the dash....wherever sounds best
Mo, what do you mean advising an amp for that quality of components? I'm not flaming, just curious, cause I have Boston RC620 components. Do you think I should get an amp for mine too? How do you power the tweeters?? I want it to sound as good as it gets!

well HU's use direct Mosfet transistors.. very dirty sound.. Amplifiers on the other hand have much cleaner..lower distortion outputs. Also have a lower noise floor (less susseptible to radio interferance) and have better stereo seperation. Also the added power will allow you to play you music louder before before audible distortion sets in..
What do you look for in an amp? I've made it a habit of rating amps at 13 volts..., I also look for THD (? measure of noise distortion) Name brands don't really strike my fancy but I'm leaning towards MTX cause they're the most honest rated so far.
