pioneer or sony?
I am getting a head unit for my car tomorrow. I have come down to a decision between two head units and would like to hear ur opinions on which one i should purchase. The 2 HU's im comparing are the sony cdx-ca700x and the pioneer DEHP4400. Which one is the better product? I am looking for better sound quality mostly, extra features are secondary. Also, which one would skip less? Thanks in advance.

alright, pioneer it is. I was leaning in that direction anyways. The sales guy pointed me towards the sony, but after i listened to it the pioneer had more richness to the sound (eq was flat in both cases and same speakers). Anyway, i like the look of the pioneer more.
And Pioneers you can actually see in the daylight in our cars! I went through a vew units in my ride before I found my Pioneer...I love it to death.
as a rule, from what I've been able to gather on this site, you should avoid everything Sony makes for car audio.

Dude, I have that Pioneer deck you are debating on, Its off the hook. I never owned a Pioneer product in my life ever, cause I never really thought it was that great. But I was in your spot about 8 months ago and I went with the Pioneer. You will love it. It is hella tight. And the features, damm to many for me to even have chances to use yet. Its the best choice out of the two you could make. Good luck. P.S that only thing I don't like about it is the colors display, kinda boring.

Well i got the pioneer hu today and installed it. I am really happy so far. I am having no problems seeing the display, even when it is bright out. There are soooooooo many little things u can adjust. I can't wait to play around with it some more and see what all the features do. The sound quality is great, even with the stock speakers. I would recommend pioneer at any time. This is a great product.

Well now that you have the Pioneer HU, you said that you don't have problems seeing the disdplay?? Well How come. When the sun hits it, since its at a angle it is a hard to see the display. I was looking to do something with it to try to take away from that tilt it has when installed. At first i didn't notice the issue with the sun and the display until a few months later. Anyways

ok correction, i am having SOME probs seeing it. When i got it yesterday it was foggy as always in SF and there wasnt much direct sunlight hitting it. I took the car out today and it is considerably harder to read it. I still can read it but its very vague. With the fog here in san francisco it wont be a prolem for long, lol.
