Need amp suggestions

I have a 10 inch 800 RMS sub @ 3 ohms.

had an audiobahn 1801x amp but sold it.
now i need a new amp. any suggestions???
i tried the alpine m500 which is 500x1@2ohms and it isn't as loud as the audiobahn which was 560X1 @ 2 ohms of course the alpine is a class d and the audiobahn is a/b.

any suggestions are appreciated.

Class D and Class A/B make no difference in how loud things will get.. this boils dwn to a matter of how much U wanna spend.. a JBL BP1200.1 would push about 800Wrms exactly at a 3ohm load..

I never look at member status..some diamond members are worse than newbies... you are who you are..not what a ranking on this says ..

Cheers

i've heard class d amps have a better chance of frying than a a/b amp is this true? also heard that you should NEVER hook up an amp at 1 ohm even it it says its 1 ohm stable. why do they make 1 ohm stable amps then?

So, I downloaded the manual for the JBL 1200.1 and noticed that it can draw 117 amps.
How will that work w/ my stock alternator?

YUp..music only represents a 33% load with most rap and dance.. about 45% with Bass CD's..Also, you'll only be putting out 66% of that as you'll be wired to 3ohms..

still, 25-30 amps is a decent pull for our alternators... you gonna be using an amp for highs?

yeah,
i have 2 a/d/s 250mx's amps pushing front components and rear coaxes. plus the jbl 1200.1 when i get it, and i'll have 1/2 farad cap to start plus i'll get more if i need it later.

I figure i'll run the amp till it dies then i'll get a bigger one btw any one know where to get a good alternator?

its an Audiobahn alum10x 800rms. not the best, but not exactly crap either.
i'm sure it probably can't handle that but i can always turn down the gain or the nonfader on my head unit.
personally i think that my sub @ 800wrms will be too loud for me, but its nice to know if i want to thump...I can.

i'll probably go 1.5

since i already have a 1/2 i'll just buy another 1 farad.

also, do you think one company's caps are better than anothers?

i mean its just a capacitor right, how do you make a crappy cap?
