i have a 50W X 4 channel amp made by memphis studion. just recently the protection light comes on when im playing music at high volume and the music stops, then the protection light fades away and the power light comes back on and the music plays for about 2 seconds and it turns off again. it does the same thing over and over again. Does anyone know what could be wrong?

It could be overheating and the thermal protection is kicking in. You could be running a set of speakers, possibly a sub, at too low a resistance. How did you wire your speakers/subs?

Yea i agree it sounds like your amp is overheating making it kick into protection...next time it does that turn it down some and see if that helps, if not check your wiring like go civic said you could have something wired wrong.

What ohm load are you presenting to the amp?.. also make sure you have a good ground.. the amp goes into protection if it's not getting enough voltage...
