>>cd player question<<

well i got an alpine h.u. (model #7893) about 4 months ago and i had one before it, but this newer model seems to be junkier than the last, the problem is that a majority of cd's skip(and they are scratched enough to do it) but my last h.u. played them all fine and they even play without skips on the crappy cd-player in my room, so is this a defected h.u. or just a rather junky one (it cost me $400 so i wouln't think so)...any suggestions would help

Cliff Notes: new head unit is worse than old one when playing older "scratchy" cds, problem or normal???

no..it''s a really good HU..the optical input is sensitive enough to read all incoming information to offer top quality sound.. cheap CD players generally won't pic up minor scratches because the optics are crappy..

my sony Hu must have taken the worst traits of both, it skips and lacks the quality I hate it more and more every day, recently, it's been giving me errors

Sony's are made like that.. they're bad off the bad..then get progrressively worse..then after 1200hour of listening they catch fire!
