ok so what does this actually mean (title)? specifics please and some models for example like mtx etc. i searched and didnt find anything.

Class D amps are built to be more efficient than class AB amps. The only drawback is that the sound quality on a Class D amp isn't nearly as good as a class AB amp. Mohawk can explain that one much better than I ever could. That is why class D amps are only used for subs. The following are Class D MTX amps, the 4250D, the 6500D, and the 8100D. If you want to run a sub, get a class D because it will be better for your electrical system. If you want to run comp speaks or any other speaks get a class AB amp.

I thought class AB amps run hotter...

Class D = More Efficient = Less Energy Wasted As Heat

Class D runs less hot, because it is more efficient and doesn't waste energy as heat.
