It depends on the ompedance of the voice coils..and the amps you have.

Say it's a Dual 2ohm sub. And you have 2 amps that put out 500Wrms into a 2ohm mono load. Wire one amp to each voice coil and there you go..

Cheers
Mohawk

Both amps have to be identical though.. there are also some amps that can be strapped..making one put out only a + signal..the other a- .

if the amps are 500 watts than they are close around 250 rms depending what ohm they are wired to ..each amp. if your sub is 1000 watts rms then each coil is 500 watts rms. 250 watts rms to each 500 watt rms coil would be fine but if u want to get the best out of that sub i would sell both amps and buy a mono amp that will supply at least 900 wattts rms.

sorry that was a little off of the main Q

It mostly depends if the subs are dual voice coil or not

I know u know what u r talking about, but in his Question he said 1000watts rms for the sub and did not state that the 500 watt amp wass rms or peak.

i allways talk in rms also. but most company's dont! and alot of kids that dont know much about car audio use peak wattage also

It sounded like he didnt know much, so i added my 2 cents, kinda seamed like you were offended I know u put a smile face in there but if it offended you in anyway i apologize
