so right now, i've got the cheesiest 6 1/2's all around... pioneer tsa-1655 (59 bucks a pair, heh)... and i have those because unlike many of you, i have no money, no job, because this damn thing called college takes up way too much of my time. now miraculously i have stumbled upon 2 pairs of infinity kappa 62.5 (the 2 way 75 rms coax's)... i know its gonna sound better, but will it really be that much better (as of now im running off my jvc kd-sh99 power)... let me know... also, how would the increase of quality be if i stopped with the HU and threw in a phoenix gold qx150.4 or some equivalent price (+/- 225)... i have one request... please i dont want 38 replies about which speakers to get instead of the infinity's... its not my choice, i dont have a choice in speaker...

Running off HU power..the pioneers might be the better choice to stick with.. the suspensions on the Infinities is a bit stiffer and you would probably losea fair bit of bass response..

def install the new speakers...you will notice a difference in sound quality. your HU should be able to power the speakers just fine, but if you want to throw the extra money into an amp for them then yes it will give you a bit better quality/highs.

id say save all the money you can for beer....but thats just me.

i forgot to mention i also have 2 audiobahn 12's already in, so bass isnt like deathly necessarry... mohawk, if you were to hear these pioneers... ugh... bass on HU is at -1 and they distort in the low end any where past 2/3 power... im def putting em in... any ideas for a 4 channel round 225ish to complement these?

In that case..drop the Infinities in...the Distortion may also be and quite likely is..the HU...Internal amps in HU's generally begin distorting noticeably after 1/2 volume in most HU's...

As for an amp... shop around on Ebay.. a JBL or Earthquake amp can be found in that range..and both are pretty decent

Once i added a 4channel amp to power my components and 6x9's i couldn't believe the difference!! It's definitely worth it, no doubt about it
