will amp blow speakers
I replaced the stock speakers in my sedan with kicker k60 6.5's and got a RF 600.4 punch amp for really cheap and want to know if it's too powerful for the speakers. The speakers are 65 watts RMS and 125? Max I think. . . the RF amp is 75watts X 4 into 4 ohms and 150watts into 2 ohms. I was initially going to get a 400.4 but I didn't really want to pass up the deal i got on this amp. Should I sell it and get another amp or put it on??
Too little power and distortion will damage speakers before too much power will. If they are crossed over right, then you could run 500watts to each speaker without damage. Correct me if I'm wrong Mohawkboom.....but you cant cause I'm right!!!
no amp will cause speaker damage, underpowered or overpowered. if it's underpowered, you run the risk of running the amp into clipping because you can't turn up the volume that much. if it's overpowered then you just gotta be careful how much you turn up the volume. just run the gains down on the amp a little. mohawk, correct me if I'm wrong.

too little power will cause the amp to clip, and there is a reason you will blow a speaker
too much power might go beyond the thermal limits of the speaker, you can give a speaker 10000 watts if it doesnt go beyond the thermal limits of the speaker! but 10k will mostlikly go beyond the limits
