question on amp wiring
question on amp wiring
I'm relocating my amp from being on the rear seats to the spare tire well. but now alot of my wires dont reach.. How long 4 guage power wire do I need to reach? It's a JL 500.1, and since the inputs are on the bottom, i need the wires to reach the end of the trunk (closest to you when standing in front of the trunk) and then from there to the amp which is approx. 6 in away from the edge.
So you already have an amp wiring kit since you are relocating it? I'd say 5-6' is probably safe from the back of the seat to the back of the trunk. Either get a distribution block and split the 4 gauge or run new 4 gauge from the battery to the back of the trunk
What I meant was, I'm going to run a new wire from the battery to the amp, and I was inquiring on how long the wire had to be total. I had a professional install for the amp, so I didnt know how much was used before. I was thinking about 20ft total, but I'm not sure.
The car being only 14.5 feet long, 20 ft should be more than enough. I got mine as a kit, but the windinf from teh battery t othe trunk didn't add much more length. I'd say 20 is good
Ok, gonna pick up the 4 guage tomorrow. I'll get 20 ft. That's from the battery through the car to the trunk lid and then about 8" from the trunk lid to the amp. That seem right guys?
