can someone explain how any electrical component we add are grounded rather than conventional wiring

why is it that the positive lead goes to the constant 12v, but the negative lead only has to go to bare metal on the chassis? Does that mean there a constant negative charge going through all bare metal surfaces?
Like how when you jump start a car, you put the positive cable on the positive battery lead, but the negative cable on bare metal?

Rep Power: 0 The metal body acts as the ground, when you wire up an amp you must find a good spot to ground it, make sure you remove the paint to expose the bare metal.
