I think the stock head unit is made by Clarion ... at least that's what my dealer told me. Speakers are Pioneer.

I have a '01 LX Sedan and the stock head unit is made by Alpine.
OH yeah, and the stock speakers are made by Pioneer (like Ronin said).

Stock head is made by Alpine, and the speakers are Pioneer. The speaker says "pioneer" if you look at it in the trunk.

yep, they are right. Alpine makes the head unit and pioneer makes the speakers. Do not that this is not Alpine or Pioneer equipment, it is just manufactured by them because they have the facilities to do so. If that makes any since.

I didnt find the stock system to be too bad actually. Better than some others out there. Either way i upgraded.

As someone else mentioned, just because it's made by Alpine does not mean it's really Alpine quality; Honda simply contracted to utilize their facilities to make a product as per Honda's specs.

all those who say alpine headunit and pioneer speakers are right. That is also the reason that the alpine cd player plugs right into the headunit. anyone know if the 97 honda accord cd changer is compatbile with our civic headunit?

To late you said it , alpline is alpine , and there great . Honda has the best stock head unit ever......glad I did not change my unit out ......
