AMP Question
Alright... I'm not really that smart when it comes to car stereo installation, so just bare with me. lol...
Right now I have an MTX amp hooked up to a PolkDX 12 inch sub. Lately, it's been getting way too hot and it automatically shuts itself off, so it's way fustrating. One way or another, i got a hold of an awesome JBL amp. So obviously, i want to switch them. The wires going into my MTX amp all have a metal U at the end for which the screws on the amp screw down upon and thats how they stay together. On the JBL amp, it's not like that. I asked a local car audio shop about it and they told me to strip the U hook off of the wires and put the bare wire into the JBL sockets and then just screw it down til the wire can't come out... Ok did that make any sense? If it did, then is what the guy told me to do the right thing to do? I don't want to mess anything up nor pay someone to just replace an amp for me.
Thanks in advance...

that sounds right... but..the amps overheating for a reason. Mosr likely you have a Dual 4 ohm sub bridged to a 4ohm mono stable amp. Not good. What JBL amp did you get?..
