Degraded Battery?
Degraded Battery?
Had my battery tested yesterday. It was 102 degrees F, 12.9v and 479/550 CCAs. The readout said "...isn't within industry standards...recommend replacement"
In the mornings it turns over a few times before it starts, later in the day or start & stop it fires up a little faster. This has developed over the past month.
The battery appears to be about four years old--it has a Nov 13 round sticker on it.
Can I let this ride a while or should I replace it sooner?
Thanks

Re: Degraded Battery?
Test at 479, rated at 550 CCA, our shops tester would probably pass that as OK.
BUT
The tester used is not infallible. A battery can fail in a dozen different ways, those handheld testers only check one or two of those ways.
Retest your battery when it is most likely to give trouble, like after it has sat overnight.
Also...it's already 4 years old. If there's any question as to it's health, replace it before it causes you a headache.
