Okay I need some advice on what to get... I have a 760.2 pioneer amp powering 2 10" 350watt 100rms pioneer subs in a sealed enclosure. I play about half dance/techno and half rock/alternative music. I'm pretty sure that it would be a big sound difference to buy 2 higher RMS rated 10 or 12 inch subs and a new box for them. So what would be the best value for around $100-200 for a pair of subs? And should I get another sealed carpeted particle board box or a bandpass box?

RMS ratings on a sub don't mean squat as far as how good they will sound..so don't use that asessment to determine what subs to get...

But in that price range, a pair of Cerwin Vega HED's would most likely be the best bang for the buck..

Ok i'll look into the cerwin vegas. Is a SVC or a DVC the best choice for the $$? Worth the extra $$ for 12 inch instead of 10s?

they come in SVC and DVC....what does your amp put out at 4ohm mono??..get the 10's if you allready have an enclosure between .65 and .88 cu.ft per sub you'll be mroe than happy with the 10's over them Pioneers

Lets see... 380W X 1 at 14.4V, 4ohms, 20-20,000Hz, 0.8% THD. I'll need to get a new enclosure because the one I have now isn't separated between the 2 subwoofers and I'm selling it. The price difference isn't much at all between 10s and 12s so if you think my amp could handle 2 12s I'll do that.

the 12's will bump a bit louder and play a bit lower.. go with the 12's [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/IMG]..that amp should compkiment them well..

yessir.. 2 4ohm DVC 12's.. also good new subs int hat price range are Memphis Power Reference subs..if you can find em..

Okay I was talking to an audio tech guy today at a shop (bought a double 12" box from him today) and he said the Cerwin-Vegas were good but my best bet is the SVC not the DVCs. He siad that they DVCs with my amp would involve wiring them wierd and I could blow my amp if I screw that up. Highly recommended the SVCs... so what do you think mohawk?

the guys pretty dumb [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/IMG]. If you wire the amp in Mono it's 4 ohm mono stable. 2 DVC 4 ohm subs means four 4ohm loads.

Wire each sub in series to itself (4+4=8ohms) Wire the 2 subs in paralell 8/2 4ohm mono load. Bridge the 2 amp chanels..

Okay I trust you way more than him so I'll get those DVC's... I'm going to have you doublecheck my wiring before I plug it in though so better be on here around the end of the week

For any amplifier spec'ed to be stable with 4 ohm mono loads, this is the desired configuration
