6x9 rear speakers?

Before I get shot at , I did search, I swear
I know 6x9's are not listed as a size that an 04 Civic sedan (EX) normally fits, but have seen a few other threads around the internet (albeit they went quiet after the usual 'I'll try and and let you know' parts), but has anyone here been successful in fitting 6x9's in the rear of an 04 civic (sedan, ex)?

Re: 6x9 rear speakers?

You might have to do some cutting to fit them, and even then, mounting depth is gonna be your enemy since the trunk springs get in the way. 6x9s come stock in the coupes, but if I recall correctly, they're 6.5"s in the sedan. You can make it work, it's just gonna take some thinking out of the box to make it fit.

Re: 6x9 rear speakers?

Ohhh right the trunk spring.
Hmmm.
I have Jensing 6x9's from my previous car left over. Sounded decent and would save me some cost for an upgrade, but if it's going to take too much effort (trying to avoid massive modification in this car...I started getting ricy with my Hyundai).

Re: 6x9 rear speakers?

I would suggest just getting 6.5's

The 6x9's are going to take a lot of modification.
You can get a pair of 6.5's easily for under $50
